The enchanting half-mile walk in thissecluded corridor ends with a passage through a natural tunnel well-known for its rock overhangs, sandy substrate, petroglyph panel and lush drainage-fed vegetation. People may know the trail loop by its famous points of Fat Mans Pass, and the lesser known but equally beautiful Hidden Valley Tunnel. Continue right onto Pima Wash Trail. It's nothing but sketchy tech where wheel placement and speed are of the utmost importance. That being said, this is a trail that most people can hike on without too much difficulty. It is a 1/2 mile walk from the San Juan gate to the start of the trail on the north side of the road. Continue right onto Pima Wash Trail. Youll wait for some people but its still pleasant. The only trail markers will be in the beginning and the end of the trail. Absolutely beautiful. Challenging, must have some mountain biking experience, take plenty of water. It is steep in places, but moderate in most places. I would suggest starting Hidden Valley at the Fat Mans Pass end. I would highly recommend walking sticks. Theoretically, hikers should be the last people whod succumb to not being able to see the forest for the trees. Keep your eyes on the rocks because petroglyphs from the Hohokam tribe can be seen! So while it may get you breathing heavy and your heart rate up, it wont take too long to do so. Gnarly descent. The directions for this hike are simple: stay on the main Mormon Trail (which later turns into the Hidden Valley Trail) until a half mile past the first intersection at the top of the hill. 6.
